hiking Ample Mountain - November 11 2024 A fairly tame peak with respect to stats, but if one doesn't know about the decent trails that are present, then it can turn into a bit of a bushwhacking adventure. Great views at the top for your effort, though (not that we saw much of them)
hiking Brunswick Mountain - October 13 2024 A long but technically simple hike to the highest peak in the Howe Sound Crest Trail area, Brunswick Mountain is a decent objective for a budding hiker, or for more efficiency-minded peakbaggers, a great peak to combine with others to maximize the long approach.
scrambling Mount Hanover - October 13 2024 The second-highest peak behind Brunswick in the Howe Sound Crest area, this makes for a pretty involved scramble, though the long approach may deter some. I recommend combining it with some others along the crest for added value!
scrambling Snowshoe Peak - September 28 2024 A somewhat out-of-the-way peak in NW Montana that makes for a great scramble. Being an ultra means it has excellent views, and the remote location makes for a more rugged ascent than many other American ultras
hiking Mount Outram - September 8 2024 A long but easy hike at the west end of Manning Park, just outside of Hope. Great views and a bite-sized scramble at the top for the (probable) true summit
mountaineering Mount Cline (and Mount Owen) - September 1 2024 A nice, day-trippable 11000er with a fun crux. Long slog, though. Mount Owen is a bonus peak, though honestly I'd not recommend it due to the difficulty of the downclimb, which far exceeds the crux of Cline itself
hiking Twelve Mile Creek Peak - August 28 2024 A super pleasant hike close to Golden with good views, an easy trail, and a short+simple scramble for the true summit. Seemingly popular with mountain bikers as well
scrambling Mount Harrison - August 25 2024 One of the easier 11000ers in the Canadian Rockies, Mount Harrison is a good objective to those warming up to this list. Though, the lengthy drive could be considered a form of difficulty 😅
hiking Tomyhoi Peak - August 5 2024 A fun, if somewhat overblown (with respect to difficulty) scramble with a very well-maintained approach, good camping, and not-too-shabby prominence either
hiking Hkusam Mountain - August 3 2024 The lowest and easiest of the 4 ultras on Vancouver Island. This is a short and sweet objective with great views and great prominence for the stats nerds. Definitely worth a visit!
hiking Mount Brew - July 28 2024 A decently long hike up to a very prominent mountain looking over Lillooet and The Duffey. The trail is a bit primitive, and there's a little scrambling, but a wonderful ridge to a p1000 peak is definitely worth it
scrambling The Copilot - July 27 2024 A fun, slightly more challenging sub-peak of Sky Pilot in Squamish. Plus, if you're willing to haul some skis up, you can get some surprisingly late-season turns!
hiking Train Glacier Traverse - July 21 2024 A fun little traverse with quick alpine access and good scrambling in Pemberton above the popular Semaphore Lakes area, popular amongst hikers and campers
hiking Beauty Peak - July 13 2024 A fairly short, slightly bushy side-trip along the Crown Mountain trail. Access is a bit of a grey area, and while the views are good, they're not unique, so this is only for the ardent peakbaggers out there
hiking Crown Mountain - July 13 2024 The high point of the Grouse Mountain group of mountains, Crown is deceptively difficult due to the ups/downs required to get there (especially if you don't take the gondola up). The standard route is fairly non-technical, but harder routes are also available
scrambling Canadian Border Peak - July 7 2024 A fun, challenging scramble on the northern of the two Border Peaks, which straddle the US-Canada border near Chilliwack, BC and Glacier, WA
hiking Church Mountain - July 6 2024 A short and sweet hike to a nice viewpoint, and a fun scramble to the true summit for the adventure-inclined, with lots of options to make things as challenging as desired
hiking Broken Top - July 1 2024 A fun scramble peak, though with a bit of a long approach. Doing it in spring on skis can make that approach fun instead of tedious, though we were a bit too late for that
hiking Konahuanui - January 19 2024 A steep and muddy ridge scramble/hike to the high point in the Koolau Range above Honolulu. An excellent example of the more intense/fun ridge hiking that Hawaii has to offer
ski mountaineering Vantage Peak - December 17 2023 A fun ski with a little bit of extra spicy climbing at the end to make it a mini-mountaineering objective (at least in the winter)
ski mountaineering Amaretto and Pineau Peaks - November 25 2023 A fun traverse up and over Metal Dome in the Brandywine area. Could be linked all the way to Brandywine, but we were short on time
hiking Sun God Mountain - October 28 2023 A prominent peak near Tenquille Lake in Pemberton, with easy access and awesome year-round views
hiking Seven O'Clock Mountain - October 28 2023 An easy double-header along w/ Sun God for a nice outing in any season
hiking Mount Windsor - October 22 2023 A pleasant, local hike with excellent views, and a bit of optional scrambling
scrambling Pinnacle Peak - October 14 2023 A somewhat remote ultra with pretty low stats near Cherryville, BC
