Devil's Thumb - July 24 2022

Bow Range, Lake Louise, Alberta
2458m

This was the 5th stop on my go at the Lake Agnes circuit, my name for the route bagging all 6 peaks around Lake Agnes in a counterclockwise rotation. Since this was near the end of the day, is a very popular peak, and I was somewhat rushed, this will be a fairly brief continuation from my Mount Whyte trip report, which ended on the Beehive-Thumb col at about 8:45pm.

From that col, I made my way along the forest for a couple minutes, up one steep slabby section (still no-hands, though), and then along the .5km or so of flat ground until the trail curves to climber's right around and up the summit ridge. That was about 15 minutes on my tired legs. The next 20 minutes were a mix of steep walking, occasional tree-root grabbing, and near the summit some hand-assisted quasi-scrambling up large, stable boulders to the summit.

There, I took a couple quick photos, had some water, and headed back, intent to get at least the last peak done before darkness fell.

This area is below the true summit, but is where most people go for the best photos
Lake Agnes below; sadly I arrived too early and got back too late to visit

With this bagged again (this time with a GPX to back it up), I made my way down and toward Big Beehive.
