Beaconsfield Mountain - October 13 2023

Thompson Plateau, Penticton, BC
2177m

After driving to the top of Apex Mountain, we continued our little side-quest to Beaconsfield (see that trip report for how to get to the fork between the two). From that fork (around 2030m elevation), it's about a 2km drive to the top. There was a slightly ambiguous sign shortly after the fork indicating some traffic might be forbidden, but we took the interpretation that it meant snowmobile traffic, and continued on. Replicate this behaviour at your own risk.

The road itself was pretty easy, in a bit better shape than the previous road to Apex. It opened up onto a green ski run in the middle, then had one short steep bit to the summit, where we found a comms tower, the Quickdraw Chairlift, and a lookout platform. We parked and took some pictures at the lookout before heading back down.

Lol Logan's expression just screams "I should've worn something warmer"

With that done, we had one last objective before heading down into town, Mount Riordan.

(we started tracking at the base of the sub-summit for Apex, so the drive up from the main road is missing)
